2010 RULES & REGULATIONS

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official. The Technical and Race Directors shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.

1. Any American made school bus with a wheel base that is stock for year, make and model. A 35 –70 passenger bus must be used. No small buses. Engine must be in front of bus. No cabover-style buses.

2. No alterations allowed except as specified. No lightening is allowed unless specified.

3. Drivers must be at least 21 years of age.

4. All entrants must wear a proper fitting SNELL or DOT approved helmet at all times.

5. Seatbelts must be worn at all times. Racing-style harness required.

6. All glass and plastic, including the windshield, must be removed. Seats may remain.

7. Stock gas tanks may be used. If using a marine-style gas tank, it must be mounted inside the bus, over the rear axle, and be fully covered with a steel container/firewall. No electrical fuel pumps.

8. Battery may be relocated inside the bus but must be securely mounted and covered in case of turnover.

9. All bumpers, frame and suspension must remain stock. If bumpers need replacement, use similar type material as stock. No reinforcement of bumpers. Bumpers and fenders may be trimmed to avoid tire rub.

10. Creative paint jobs and decorations are encouraged. Decorations must be securely fastened. No vulgar or obscene lettering or objects. No buses, decorations or parts left for junk. You will be billed for any removal costs incurred.

Interpretation of Rules

On misinterpretation of a rule, the official’s interpretation shall be the official interpretation and will supersede any and all other possible interpretations. If you are in doubt on any rule, ask an official. The decision is to be in writing and given to the party requesting the decision of the interpretation. Where there is no specific rule to govern the occasion, the official’s decision will be final . . . IGNORANCE IS NO EXCUSE.

Any modification not covered in these rules will not be allowed unless approved by the Fayette County fair board or it’s representative. We intend for all buses to be competing with each other. If you do something to your bus that these rules have overlooked that we feel gives you an advantage or edge over other competitors, YOU will be required to change YOUR bus.
