KIDDIE CALF SHOWMANSHIP
The Fayette County Dairy Promotion Committee is having a Kiddie Calf Showmanship class at the Fayette County Fair. This class is for young boys and girls who are interested in dairy and wish to show a calf at the fair. The class will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 12:00 Noon. Entries are due by Wednesday, July 27, 2011. The rules are as follows:
1. The participant can be anyone at least 3 years of age through the age of 9, the day of the show.
2. The calf may be a heifer or bull of any dairy breed.
3. The calf must be born AFTER March 1, 2011.
4. The calf must not have been shown previously at any 4-H or open show, except for clover kids participating in the bucket bottle class.
5. Animals cannot be clipped, just washed and clean.
6. The dress code will be shirt and pants, white not necessary.
7. Calves must be at the show area by 11:30 A.M. on July 30, 2011 and will be dismissed after the show. All calves should be off the grounds within one hour after the show is over.
8. Calves must be free from contagious or infectious conditions. A veterinarian will be on hand to inspect all calves.
9. Parents are responsible for their own children and calves.
10. The class will be judged as a showmanship class. No ringside coaching of participants will be allowed.
11. If a participant wins their class, they must move to the older class the following year, regardless of age. If the participant wins the older class they may continue to participate, but are not eligible to win again.
